The Haining - Events & Hospitality Marquee

The Haining is a country house and estate in Selkirk in the Scottish Borders. The present house dates from the 1790s and was a property of the Pringle family. In 2009, the house and grounds were bequeathed to The Haining Charitable Trust which manages the estate for the benefit of the people of Selkirkshire and the wider public. The Haining Charitable Trust is developing the building as a centre for exhibitions and events, highlighting art, culture, and history. The House is currently being refurbished and will be let out for various events and functions.

Alongside the house, we have built a new function marquee measuring some 310 m2. The marquee is an aluminium clear-span portal frame design. It comprises a thermally insulating construction with sub-floor insulation, and twin-layer thermo roofs. The floor levels of the marquee have been carefully designed to align with the internal levels of house to enable a seamless and DDA compliant transition.

This project has been designed, engineered, and delivered to the highest of standards. Engineered to British Standards as a permanent structure to accommodate a dynamic wind pressure of 0.74kN/m2, a snow load of 0.76kN/m2 and a permitted hanging load of 800 Kg per portal frame. A solid raised timber floor has been designed for the best of cèilidhs.

South facing Bi-folding windows provide the most glorious views across Haining Loch, bringing the outside inside on a nice day. Complimented with an olive-green exterior to work in harmony with the environment. Exterior cladding is built using our innovative 40mm UPVC modular system. Extruded using VEKA recycled UPVC, and colour matched to roof and gutters. We have provided Ivory Pleated Polyester linings and drapes to finish the inside of the structure.
