What an exceptional couple of days at The Belfry Hotel & Resort with MUTA; the trade body for the marquee industry. Joining with other industry professionals to network, share ideas and challenge each other to raise standards within our industry.
This year our Director, Robert Carter, who proudly forms part of the MUTA executive committee was joined by one of our J & J Carter Customer Account Managers, Mike Kidd.
The event began with a presentation from Joe Chalk, keen to highlight how to ensure each member receives the best value possible from their membership. In addition to referencing the wealth of online resources, the presentation also featured an article by J & J Carter – what does it means to be MUTA member?. In this article, Robert Carter actively encourages members to make contact with the Exec for help, advice, and guidance, which is a sentiment echoed by the wider Exec team.
The first panel session of the day generated some interesting debate around whether sub-contractors or agency crew are the answer to the industry’s staffing challenges. The discussion highlighted some key pros and cons that many members can learn from or resonate with.
The second panel was hosted by Vision: 2025. This session focused on sustainability and crucial ways in which the events industry can reduce their environmental impact. This included exciting news from the Serge Ferrari Group, who plan to begin trials of their new PVC recycling system towards the end of this year, with the goal of making the system accessible worldwide. The also showcased the materials they already have available, which have been produced using recycled products, such as PET bottles.
The event concluded with a moving moment – the induction of Joe Baillie into the MUTA Hall of Fame! It was excellent to see Joe’s significant contribution to raising industry standards become recognised in this suitably prestigious way.
