As a fabric structure manufacturer, J & J Carter are experts in manufacturing and installing tensile fabric structures, and we know how to maintain them too.
We’ve put together a quick guide to these processes, alongside some examples of our recent work.
At J & J Carter, we have two core manufacturing facilities: a membrane factory and a steelworks facility.
The tensile membrane factory, occupying 2000m2, employs the latest in advanced membrane manufacturing techniques. We continually invest in our high-tech computer-controlled cutting, high frequency welding, heat sealing, sewing, and finishing equipment.
Alongside our technology, we have an experienced team of staff who help us deliver challenging projects within short timescales at our steel and aluminium fabrication facility, doing everything from cutting and drilling to bending and welding. We know our staff are not just fabricators or welders, but craftsmen and women who take pride in their work.
Our skilled team produce high-quality tensile structures; an example of which is our installation at The Lights Theatre, Andover, where we modernised the building entrance and provided a stylish fabric canopy cover for the outdoor dining area.
Our crews have over two decades of experience installing tensile structures across the world. We offer a global installation service, delivering a variety of challenging structures.
A key part of the installation process for our Engineers and Project Managers is developing Risk and Method Statements (RAMS) to ensure CDM compliance. Furthermore, to ensure a safe installation, our installers are all fully trained and accredited in the use of mobile platforms (MEWPS), Telehandlers and Rope Access, and Crane Banksmen trained where appropriate.
One example of a complex installation J & J Carter carried out is the tensile membrane structure we built for Kilworth House Hotel in Leicestershire. We needed to provide a cover for the stage and auditorium seating area at a wooded glade in the grounds of the hotel, which was a challenging build.
Once the manufacturing and installation stages are complete, we carry out a thorough quality check and then hand over the structure to the client for use. However, like any building, tensile structures require some level of maintenance. Our Aftercare service ensures that your membrane warranty is preserved and keeps the fabric structure looking as good as the day it was installed.
J & J Carter provide ongoing maintenance for many of the structures we install for our clients. For instance, we maintain the Beacon of Light site for Sunderland AFC every year, helping to keep the 4000m2 PVC tensile fabric roof in tip-top shape.
